Jayne Clairmont
Owner-Operator-Consultant
Jayne Clairmont is a nationally recognized expert in the care of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. In addition to her highly sought after speaking and consulting engagements, Jayne shares her passion for excellence every day with both residents and staff members as the hands-on owner of English Rose Suites, headquartered in Edina, Minnesota.
Since graduating from Moorhead State University in 1984 with a BS in Public Relations, Jayne’s entire professional career has been devoted to innovative care for our frail elderly population. Hired by Kensington Assisted Living Homes immediately after graduation, her natural affinity and love for the elderly enabled her to quickly rise through the ranks of important job functions and leadership roles within the Kensington organization and the budding new industry of Assisted Living.
Jayne participated in the founding of ALFA, the Assisted Living Federation of America and was an active leader and spokesperson for the industrys public policy positions relating to aging and care issues. She also had the opportunity through Kensingtons organization to perform market research on a variety of innovative elderly models being developed throughout the country.
Jayne has an extensive background in the development side of assisted living having renovated and re-purposed facilities for serving frail older adults throughout the country. She also created new program models and collaborations in several communities which would be replicated by others as examples of “Best Practices” in elder care. One example is The Kensington in Hobbs, New Mexico, where Jayne converted a former Holiday Inn Hotel into a state-of-the-art assisted living community with several unique community programs, including an Adult Day Care program and a meal-preparation service providing meals to the local senior center and homebound elderly in the community.
As COO for Kensington, Jayne, along with the senior management team, designed, developed, and operated the Kensington Cottages model of dementia care throughout the Upper Midwest. Kensington Cottages earned national recognition as a leading pioneer in serving adults with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
While overseeing the development and operations of the nationally-renowned Kensington Cottages neighborhood in Rochester, Minnesota – a specialized project serving up to two-hundred residents - Jayne co-developed several new care approaches in close collaboration with Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
She has also served as Chair of the Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer’s Association, testified before a U. S. Senate Public Hearing on older adult rights and protections and currently sits on the Minnesota Board on Aging.
When the Kensington organization was sold to Karrington Health of Columbus, Ohio in 1997, Jayne became Vice President of Operations and assumed responsibility for the oversight of seventeen care facilities in three states. In 1999, Karrington Health was acquired by Sunrise Senior Living.
Jayne’s wide-ranging experience coupled with her rare charismatic spirit is infectious to all those she shares her passion and compassion with. Jayne has and is changing the landscape of memory care forever.
