A nationally recognized expert, speaker and consultant with more than 28 years of experience, Jayne Clairmont has dedicated her life’s work to improving the care for adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Inspired by her grandfather’s legacy, Jayne credits him for teaching her the importance of respect and dignity, the guiding principles of English Rose Suites. “At a young age,” Jayne says, “I learned from my grandfather the importance of honoring the generations before us who have such a wealth of wisdom and life stories to share.”

Jayne began her career in 1984 with Kensington Assisted Living Homes in Bismarck, North Dakota. She was quickly promoted to leadership roles, eventually becoming Chief Operating Officer. Jayne developed new program models and partnerships, and opened state-of-the-art assisted living facilities across the country.

As a national leader in memory care, Jayne helped to found the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA). Former Governor Tim Pawlenty appointed Jayne to the Minnesota Board on Aging where she participated in the Alzheimer’s disease working group which transitioned to Preparing Minnesotans for Alzheimer’s (PMA) 2020. In 2011, Governor Mark Dayton appointed Jayne to the council on developmental disabilities. She also serves on two national committees working to advance research and best practices of non-pharmacological approaches in dementia care and the advancement of person-centered care. She has also served as chair of the Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer’s Association, testified before a U.S. Senate Public Hearing on older adult rights and protection, and has co-developed several new care approaches in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.

Jayne credits her team – the heart and soul of English Rose Suites – with maintaining its sterling reputation. “My greatest responsibility is to lead by example every day,” she says. “We empower our staff and give them permission to love our residents, to show them absolute respect and dignity, and build trust for both our residents and their families.” She supports her team with continuous education and training.

While she enjoys gardening and spending time with family and friends, Jayne says, “my work is my passion and I incorporate my life into work and work into life.”
