Katie LeDent's passion for those with Alzheimers and other related dementias began 10 years before coming to English Rose Suites in 2003. After her maternal grandmother's diagnosis of Alzheimers disease, she watched her family struggle to find answers to a multitude of questions and trying to understand the changes that were taking place for her grandmother and parents. This pivotal time was life changing… her career path for over 15 years has been to make a difference in the lives of everyone she meets who has dementia.

Katie worked at Madonna Towers and Sunrise Cottages in Rochester Minnesota, with her certified nursing assistant (CNA) training taking place while working at a nursing home in Hamilton, Montana. At Sunrise Cottages she worked all shifts as a care partner then became a Med Passer and eventually a Lead Care Manager. Learning to “live in the moment” from her residents were daily life lessons experienced. Katie recalls “having to replant the flowers in the court yard every night during dinner because one of her residents would be weeding the field”. During these moments, she knew she was making a difference.

Katie's experiences have been invaluable for the residents at English Rose Suites. Her talents have had her in Team Mentor roles; she is now the Program Coordinator and Aromatherapy Expert. Experiencing Katie’s “moments of joy” that she brings to the residents, their families and working with staff to creatively find pleasure she knows is possible for each resident is truly humbling, enlightening and remarkable.
